Johansson, on the other hand, "hated" the script for Season 3, Episode 16 when he read it because he didn't want to pull a gun on Sheffer. The episode was really filmed in Honey Grove after the town won a contest in which fans wrote in, saying why One Tree Hill should come to their city. All of the extras in the episode are kids from the town. One Tree Hill uncharacteristically jumped ahead four years to bypass college so the actors would play their own ages.

When Haley gets pregnant in Season 8, Lenz was pregnant in real life. Schwahn makes a cameo in two episodes as Max, the record store owner.
In Season 8, Episode 11, there is a terrible thunderstorm in Tree Hill in which Brooke and Jamie get stuck in a car in the river and the dam breaks. The scene was really filmed in a lake with tons of fake rain pouring down. The whole crew was nervous about putting Brundage in that situation, but he wanted to do it and said he had a blast. Though he was credited as a series regular during Season 9, Lafferty signed on for only half the season, which would explain why Nathan was missing.
Lenz's last scene for the series was her walking across Julian's soundstage. As the series entered season 5, there was a four-year time jump to skip the characters' lives at college. This allowed for the show to reinvent itself with a fresh set of storylines with a matured cast. Ratings played a major role in the show's cancellation decision. There was a small increase in viewership with the time jump but, after that, the number gradually decreased year to year.
The audience drop wasn't dramatic, but when compared to other shows was nevertheless a bit discerning. It also didn't help that One Tree Hill 's timeslot was changed season by season, making it harder to keep a loyal viewer set.
One Tree Hill 's declining ratings be accredited to the various casting changes. Even though the core cast remained on the series following the time jump, they were no longer heavily involved in each other's lives. Of course, that goes with getting older but it was hard for viewers to accept the distance between the characters. The result was too many subplots, causing the series to become convoluted at times. More impactfully, prior to season 7, Murray and Burton decided to exit the series, leaving a monumental void Murray returned for one episode in the final season, but Burton never came back.
Despite everything that happened during the episode, there was one event that really shocked me: For a split second, I actually developed a soft spot for Dan Scott. However, because he was so eager to get close to his family, and because he was so nice to Quinn Shantel VanSanten , Dan Scott and I are on good terms.
